Market Close
Carbon prices rose to over €27.00 per tonne yesterday, the highest they have been since July 2008 and power futures gained as a result.  The UK gas system remained finely

balanced throughout the day adding some support to the within day price but the day ahead price was unchanged.  The week ahead and balance-of-month contracts eased by around a penny, but the front month gained just over a penny in continuing volatile trading.  The see-saw pattern of trading on crude oil also continued yesterday with Brent crude shedding 90 cents to settle at $70.83.
